Most women cannot afford to be full-time fashionistas but all females like to add a few new pieces to their wardrobes each autumn. So, here are examples of the trendiest colors for fall from Pantone. Some shades are from prior seasons and many of these new hues can be worn year round.
Pantone picked these colors for "practicality" and "newness." And, all of these can be mixed together for hip, vibrant looks.
Purple Orchid
Purple Orchid is a new pinky-purple that is only a few clicks from fuchsia. And, while not quite as bright as a jewel tone, it’s just a touch lighter than a real amethyst. This color works well with most skin tones.
Women should look for scarves or berets in this flattering color to give their complexions a nice rosy glow. This Bottega Veneta handbag is from last spring, but it’s a gorgeous example of Pantone Purple Orchid.
Chocolate Truffle
Fashionistas would gain a pound if they ever ate a truffle, so the next best thing is to wear the shade. This color is a rich brown with plum undertones and it makes an exotic, tasteful combination when worn with Purple Orchid. Here is a beautiful Burberry Handbag in Chocolate Truffle.
Woodbine Green
Woodbine is similar to Avocado Green from the 60s, but less harsh and not as yellow. And, this is a rocking color for a purse, so check out the Kathy Van Zeeland Handbag. This hue has a fall feel, but it will still look fresh in spring.
Pantone suggests mixing Woodbine, Purple Orchid, and Chocolate Truffle. Sometimes Woodbine is labeled as pistachio or moss.
Lagoon Turquoise
Lagoon is Pantone’s color of the year. So, buying some accessories in this blue-green hue would be a hip way to update the look of any boring outfit. Here is some inexpensive costume jewelry in this trendy turquoise. Lagoon is spectacular with all reds.
Lipstick Red
Pantone’s Lipstick Red is a deep hue with pink or rose undertones. It’s very wearable and definitely flattering with most skin tones. It would make a great fall-transition lipstick for women who love to wear darker shades. Here is a sample of Pantone Lipstick Red.
Golden Glow
Golden Glow is a gorgeous hue for redheads with autumn coloring. It’s a strong, but not harsh, yellow orange, a bit like butternut squash soup, and is truly amazing on the right woman. Ladies who can wear this color should stock up because they will light up the room while wearing this.
Some websites call this Mardi Gras Gold or Marigold, but it’s really Pantone Golden Glow. Pantone suggests pairing it with Purple Orchid or Woodbine for a 70s retro look.
Living Coral
Living Coral is like a mix of watermelon and true orange, with a slightly pink undertone. The rosy tint makes it easier to wear than any harsh straight-up orange. Pantone suggests using this coral to complement Lagoon turquoise. And, anyone who can knit would be wise to find ways to combine some of these fall colors in a gorgeous lighthearted, but still elegant, scarf or hat. This color will work with fall clothing for the next 10 years.
Here is a summery version of Pantone Living Coral that could be winterized with a cute chocolate or gray jacket or cardigan.
Endive Green
Yellow-green Endive is a bit more yellow than celery, but most people would consider it to be within the same color family. Pantone suggests adding this color to freshen up a dull wardrobe, or combining it with Lagoon, Chocolate Truffle, and Purple for a beautiful fall look.
Here is a cute way to wear a scarf in Pantone Endive.
Oyster Gray
Oyster is similar to the color "griege" and that means it is so neutral that it can be paired with almost any hue. This gray was selected as a practical color to use for basics. It is so light that it can be worn year round. See this handbag in Pantone Oyster Gray. Sometimes, oyster is found in a lighter tint.
Rose Dust
This romantic classic has been around for several years, so many women will have a few items with this color in it. Pantone Rose Dust is a pinky beige that looks great with blacks and other neutrals, but can be worn year round. Here is a Rose Dust cardigan.
It's nice to be able to buy clothing from different manufacturers and know that it will go together. Read More:
