Well, it was just a matter of time before Hollywood celebs would help knock Labrador Retrievers into second place. And, adorable Bulldogs are so popular, all up and down the West Coast, that they make "The Top Five" in Long Beach, San Diego, San Francisco, Oakland, and Seattle.
Why are Bulldogs so Popular?
Everyone has their own reason for loving their Bully, however, Bulldogs may be the "It Dog" because:
- Celebrities with Bulldogs have been photographed all over the country.
- Bulldogs have a good temperament.
- Bulldogs are cute and macho at the same time.
- Bulldogs are good in apartments.
Celebrity Bulldogs
Hollywood stars and big name musicians can have whatever their little hearts desire, right? These are people who can afford to have 5 nannies for 5 dogs and to bring the whole group along in a private jet. So, when multifarious selections of celebs choose Bullies, people take notice. How is this for a diverse group of Bulldog moms and dads?

What are Bulldogs Like?
Originally, Bulldogs were fighting dogs and, in the Middle Ages, they were quite popular among bored noblemen, who used the pups for gambling in bull-baiting contests. Over the years, the Bulldog Breed was altered to give them the temperament and characteristics suitable to pets:
- Legendary courage
- They seldom whine or complain
- Only bark when there’s a reason
- Loving patience
- Good with kids
- Great Companions
Maybe fickle celebrities like Bullies because of their loving patience and loyalty. Even the rich and famous need someone who loves them for themselves.

Some people consider Bulldogs ugly, but many consider them the most beautiful of dogs. A Bully has an almost human-like face and he is one very photogenic dog. Look at a picture of a Bulldog and try to be in a bad mood. It’s impossible. And, seeing a cute Bulldog girl, on a leash, in a pink tutu is enough to make a grouchy old man start smiling.
On the other hand, the Bully breed is very macho. While these pups have been bred down to be compact pets, boy dogs retain that loving tough-guy Babu-ness. Really, don't male Bulldogs, seem to be humming, “I'm too sexy for my cat, too sexy for my cat...I'm too sexy," while they are walking down the street?

As Victoria and David Beckham learned, not everyone is at a place in their lives where they should buy a new puppy. Pup lovers in the Los Angeles area should look into adopting an English Bulldog. Be prepared to maintain and clean the folds in their funny eternal-puppy faces, and be prepared for loyal loving.
