You are probably here because you want your dog to be hip and trendy this Halloween... right? You have made a wise choice, Doggie Daddy and Poochie Mama.
Lady Gaga Dog Costume
This will be the costume of the year. While you can’t buy a readymade Lady Gaga dog costume, you can put one together yourself. The most important thing is to have:
- Lady Gaga Hair
- A Wild Dress
You can do it. Just look around. I would start with a T-shirt or cheap doggie dress and add on to it. Remember, you are an artist. You need to experiment, but the end result will be worth it.
- For the dress, just invent something weird. Use duct tape to hold it together.
- Buy a Lady Gaga Hair Bow Clip for humans if you have a large dog. Try Costume Craze or any costume store.
To make your own Lady Gaga hair bow, get some long blonde extensions from a beauty supply store. Fold each side inward towards the middle and secure with a blonde (white) pipe cleaner (from any craft store). Take another hair extension and wrap it around the middle. Use two more extensions to drape down each side of your pup’s face. You could attach everything to an elastic headband or you could attach the hair to a Hoodie if your dog will wear one.
Mod 60s Dog Costume
If you want a cute retro dog costume, you should learn a bit about mid-sixties fashion. Since I was alive back then (and very young) I can help you. Read about:
No matter what people say online, the British Mod look was in the 60s not the 70s. White vinyl go-go boots were Mod style not Hippie style. You can dress yourself and your dog however you like, but most Hippies would not wear go-go boots because that type of boot was made out of plastic, a non-natural manmade material.
Mods loved manmade material and shiny space-age fabrics. So, something like this pink dog raincoat slicker (shiny is good) would be perfect as a Mod “dress”.
Go Go Boots for Dogs
Go-Go boots are a bit harder to find. If possible, they should be white, but a pastel color would work as long as it is shiny plastic. To make your own go-go boots, get something like Pawz Dog Boots and spray or paint the tops white.
Next: Find white vinyl fabric, roll it around the dog’s legs and attach it to the booties. One alternative for a small dog would be to find doll white vinyl boots and attach the tops to your pup’s socks or booties. A 60s mod hat usually has this shape or a paperboy-cap shape. This will be a totally groovy costume, baby.
Gossip Girl Dog Costume
You know you love Gossip Girl. You can't deny it. But, if you want to know more about Gossip Girl style, start here:
You need some kind of plaid dog coat or dress. (Or, see the school girl dog costume in photo below.) Your dog must have some kind of headband with a bow or a slouchy beanie. If you look around, you can find glossy maryjane shoes. Or, you could just have your pup wear baby or doll knee socks. This costume would be incredibly fun if you had a group thing going on.
