Here are some of the best women's travel shoes. Comfortable shoes for walking include Mephisto Sandals, Dansko shoes, Naot, Ecco, Josef Seibel, & more.

Many shoes look great from a distance, but no woman can tell if the shoes are worth the money until she tries them on. Here are some of the best women’s travel shoes for comfort.

Travel Shoes for Women

Niro Allrounder by Mephisto, a chic athletic shoe, is a good Baby Boomer option for wearing with pants or jeans, (and maybe a skirt) in Europe. It looks similar to the active shoe seen in Paris, worn by gals who are slumming it while running errands. And, Italian Mephistos are a much better option than ugly white Nikes (too American) when it’s important to look good.

  • Sizes: 5.5-11
  • 17 color combos
  • Expensive, but if can find one that fits, Mephistos rock around the world and back
  • Fits orthotics
  • Great shock absorption and traction
  • Breathable mesh and can take water
  • Lightweight 9oz

Mephisto Sandals for walking come in three good options: Altina, Canisia, and Ulla (not cute).

Altina is a flat with good cushion (size 5-10). Canisia has a wedge 2-inch heel but is comfortable, with 3 adjustable straps. Ulla is harder to find and only comes in black. The author has taken the same pair of Ullas to: Europe (four times), South America, China, and Australia/New Zealand (cobblers re-glued Velcro once). The only problem with Ulla is that it is a heavy shoe. Mephisto now has newer, similar sandals that are lightweight.

Travel Shoes for Boomer Women

The popular Dansko sandals, Melina and other styles, are good for many Boomer Girls with foot problems, and it’s cute to boot. It wicks away perspiration. The shoe fits many women, though some complain it is not sized like other Dansko shoes. Do try to look chic in France, Italy, and most Western European countries. Germany is one possible exception. Melina:

  • European Sizes (approximately): 5-12
  • 2” heel (wide)
  • Adjustable strap
  • 12oz

Dansko Marion looks like a cute strappy comfort slide.

Cute and Comfortable Shoes

Naot Footwear Coast is a funky Mary Jane which runs narrow. If they fit one’s foot, they are cute and comfortable travel wear. A girl could really rock the Coast shoe:

  • Sizes: 4-11
  • Supple leather upper
  • Removable suede lined footbed
  • Relieves joint pressure, good arch support
  • 9oz

Women's Shoes for Walking

Ecco Performance Yarrah is a cute athletic style Mary Jane / Ballet. It may run on the wide side, and comes in 8 colors, some of which are very cute.

  • European sizes (approximately): 5-11
  • Removable cushion insole
  • Traction on uneven surfaces
  • 8oz

Strangely cute, in a Teva way, are the Ecco Performance Yucatan sandals. These babies are popular with women who need functionality in various settings.

Comfortable Shoes

Josef Seibel has unique colors and styles, which are not for the typical suburban housewife. The cute and funky Josef Seibel Jody is an amazing Technicolor beauty. It runs a bit narrow, but it is so cute for gals who can fit into them. The Jody style has a slight heel.

  • European sizes (approximately): 5-11
  • Cushioned footbed
  • 7oz

Josef Seibel Catalonia sandal slides are great for travel and can be slid off easily at airport security. They come in four cute colors. These are just a standard well-made European sandal that will go anywhere with anything, even a travel dress with an amazing travel hat. What more can a gal ask for?

  • European sizes (approximately): 5-11
  • Side goring for fit
  • 1 3/4in heel
  • 8oz

Walking in Europe

Keen Calistoga, a Mary Jane, is cute in a funky Earth Shoe way. And, if the shoe fits, wear it, because these are good for walking around Europe, the US, or wherever. The Calistoga has a nubuck upper, laser-cut details, and a sporty rubber bottom for traction.

  • Sizes: 5-11
  • Removable footbed
  • Adjustable strap
  • Leather lining
  • 9oz

Check out Rieker for fashion and funk, they are always cute. All of the Rieker shoes have adorable detailing. Rieker Celia Mary Jane looks good for a stroll around Venice, or maybe the Rieker Blanche 03.

Arch Support

Romika Mokassetta is good for shorter women, who need a wide shoe, may want to check out these combination clog / sandal slides. These shoes would look really cute with jeans. One might call them airy and they're very super '70s flashback. Not bad.

  • European sizes (approximately): 6-11
  • 3 colors, though the black and white might be hard to pull off
  • Cushioned footbed
  • 2 1/4 heel
  • Good arch support
  • 8oz

Cute Shoes for Travel

When walking around Europe, and a gal must walk around Europe to feel the ambience, a good walking shoe or comfortable sandal is key to a grand vacation. But, don't worry, there is always a patisserie, coffee shop (especially Amsterdam), Konditorei, or a pub for plonking down when tired.

I agree nothing worst than uncomfortable shoes; A blister can ruin a trip no matter how cute the shoes are;
